The assignment will be in the form of a report and should be typed or word-processed, Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 spacing; it should comprise no more than 2,000 words, not including diagrams, tables, footnotes and references. Tables and figures are only an aid to the proceeding discussions. Thus, for example, presenting a list of figures in a table without adequate discussions will not be credit worthy.

Assignment Aim
The aim of the assignment is to show your understanding of a number of business ethics and sustainability concepts covered in the module and your ability to apply the concepts in a meaningful, insightful and balanced way. The assignment emphasises the durability and the wider application of the range of business ethics and sustainability theory and techniques you have studied. The exercise should help demonstrate how business ethics and sustainability can be used to aid decision making and problem solving in a business context.
Assignment Task
You should choose from one of the three following personal research and reporting tasks to write about: Option number 2 is the choice.
Either:
1. Select a civil society organisation (CSO) with which you are familiar and conduct research into its main activities with or against business activity.
Write a report that:
a. summarises if and to what extent its strategy and tactics have evolved over time;
b. explains the discernible changes in its strategy and tactics;
c. evaluates the strategy and tactics used by the CSO;
d. sets out what advice you would give to the CSO in terms ofimproving or strengthening its strategy and tactics.
Use an appendix of no more than 1000 words (not included in the global assignment word count of 2000 words) to provide background toyour report that describes the main tactics and approaches used by the CSO in its relations with business.
In a second appendix, please copy and paste two of your Blackboard blog posts, plus two of your comments to your classmates on their blogposts. Please give a heading for each post and each comment indicating the date, the subject and, if it is a comment, the name of the person whose blog you commented on.
Or
2. Select a business ethics and sustainability problem or dilemma that you have faced as an individual or which has arisen in an organisation of which you have been as part either as an employee, manager, or student.
Write a report that:
a. identifies and discusses the main business ethics and sustainability issues involved;
b. sets out the main responses, solutions or courses of action thatcould have been taken to address the problems that arose;
c. sets out the actual solution adopted;
d. evaluates the problem, actual and potential solutions (i.e. c. and d.above) from one business ethics theory perspective.
Use an appendix of no more than 1000 words (not included in the global assignment word count of 2000 words) to provide background to your report that describes the basic details of the case.

Or
3. Search on the Internet for examples of two companies that have produced ‘sustainability reports’, where the two companies are either from different industries but from the same country OR are from the same industry and from different countries.
Write a report that:
a. explains the differences between the two reports in terms of country or industry factors;
b. assesses the quality of the reporting in terms of the Global ReportInitiative’s G4 (2013) criteria (i.e. balance, comparability, accuracy,timeliness, clarity and reliability, including assurance);
c. evaluates the advantages and disadvantages for the two companies of using a standardised (i.e. comparable) approach;
d. makes recommendations about how each of the reports could beimproved and why.
Use an appendix of no more than 1,000 words (not included in the global assignment word count of 2000 words) to provide background toyour report setting out the differences between the reports of the two companies in terms of the range of issues dealt with in the reports andthe depth of the coverage.
